The Beaverhead River is Alive!

After a long winter of minimum flows from Clark Canyon Dam, the river is coming into shape with flows of 300 cfs. We are seeing some good fishing downstream from Pipe Organ Bridge with the newly floatable water level. More importantly, a week from today on the 16th of May, the upper river from the dam downstream to Pipe Organ Bridge will open. Expect to see an abundance of anglers as this once a year gala on opening day kicks off.

Beaverhead River – The fish are happy! After surviving minimum flows the fishing is good with San Juan worms, sow bugs and streamers.

Big Hole River – We have been running a lot of guided trips on the Big Hole recently. San Juan worms in a variety of sizes and colors, streamers and some activity on caddis recently as the Mother’s Day variety is showing up right on time. Warm weather this week combined with rising water could have us seeing peak flows later in the week. As of yesterday, the river had 3 feet of visibility and fished pretty well.
